Custom Installations

We’ve installed thousands of windows over the last 34 years, take a look at what we have installed more recently.

Why choose tilt and turn windows from Advanced?

Tilt and turn windows feature an innovative hinge mechanism offering unparalleled flexibility and performance.

A twist on the traditional and incredibly popular casement windows, tilt and turn windows open inwards, with the top either ’tilting’ inwards or ‘turning’ inwards from the side, up to 90 degrees.

This flexibility makes tilt and turn the perfect window for any homeowner, allowing for enhanced ventilation, and even providing a viable fire escape if required when in the ‘turn position’.

At Advanced we have a huge number of different designs and finishes available in our tilt and turn double glazed window range, meaning that whatever the style and requirements of your property, we have the perfect window to suit.

About Advanced’s Tilt and turn windows

Frames and Glazing

Frames are an incredibly important part of any window, playing a major role in determining the unit’s energy efficiency and weather resistance.

All Advanced’s tilt and turn window options come equipped with multiple internal chambers contained within the profile of the frame, making them some of the most thermally efficient on the market.

These chambers work as a barrier, separating the inside of your home from the outside, preventing heat from escaping and keeping out the cold winter air.

The glass fitted in our tilt and turn windows has also been carefully designed to further increase the energy efficiency of the entire unit.

Our energy efficient glass works by transmitting as much solar heat energy as possible from the outside, and reflecting interior warmth when temperatures drop outside.

Between the glazing panes of our double and triple glazed tilt and turn windows, thermo spacer bars are fitted, eliminating condensation by preventing cold patches of glass on the interior pane.

Energy Efficiency of Tilt and Turn Windows

Tilt and turn uPVC windows combine the unparalleled flexibility of multiple opening methods, with the fantastic A-rated energy efficiency and low u-values.

Tilt and turn windows are a variation on the traditional casement window, the most energy efficient of all window styles, with the sole difference of having an additional opening option.

A standard double glazed window from Advanced offers an excellent A-rated u-value of 1.4 Wm2K with the additional option of lowering this to just 1.2Wm2K.

Using an application of Soft Coat Xtra and Argon gas filling, our triple glazed tilt and turn windows reduce the u-value even further to an exceptional 0.8 W/m2K.

U-values are determined by a number of factors including frame, glass, and seal, and these values demonstrate just how much thought and innovation has gone into designing each and every component.

To give all our customer’s peace of mind that their home will still comply if energy efficiency legislation tightens in the future, all our tilt and turn windows are independently tested, certified, and far exceed the current building regulations.

UPVC Doors Provide Better Security

Safety and Security

Security is vital when it comes to installing replacement windows and doors and tilt and turn windows are some of the best on the market in this regard.

All our windows come equipped with a multi-point locking system, sturdy hinges, and high quality handles, making it very difficult for an intruder to get inside your property in this manner.

Each and every hardware component used in our tilt and turn windows are tested extensively with salt spray for 600 hours (3x longer than the industry average) demonstrating the durability of our products and our commitment to security.

If you require further security features to be installed, we are also able to provide laminated and toughened glass upon request.

The option to have your window angled in the 90 degree open ‘turn’ position, with almost all the window space accessible if required, means that you can also use tilt and turn units as a viable fire escape if required.

FAQ - Tilt and Turn Windows

What are tilt and turn windows?

Tilt and turn windows are window units which open inwards using an innovative dual-hinge mechanism. The handle controls allows for two opening modes. It can be tilted inwards from the top for ventilation, while the other mode is to turn it inwards from the side up to 90 degrees for full access.

How do I operate a tilt and turn window?

A tilt and turn window can be operated by a single handle which controls both opening functions. Simply turn the handle 90 degrees to tilt the window inwards from the top or rotate the handle 180 degrees to swing the entire sash inwards from the side. The mechanism is simple, reliable, and requires minimal effort to operate in either mode.

Can tilt and turn windows be used as fire escapes?

Yes, tilt and turn windows can be used as fire escapes. When a tilt and turn window handle is turned and opened to the 180-degree position, these window units can provide full accessibility, creating viable emergency escape routes. This makes them particularly suitable for upper-floor bedrooms and properties requiring fire safety compliance.

What are the benefits of tilt and turn windows?

The benefits of tilt and turn windows provide superior ventilation control, easy cleaning from inside, potential fire escape routes in turn mode, and enhanced child safety when tilted. Their inward opening design suits Scottish weather conditions excellently while maintaining A-rated thermal performance and robust security throughout all operating positions.

Which rooms suit tilt and turn windows best?

Tilt and turn windows excel in bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and high-rise flats. They’re ideal where controlled ventilation matters, cleaning accessibility is limited, or fire escape options are required. Their space-saving inward opening works perfectly in rooms with external obstacles like patios or balconies.

Are tilt and turn windows easy to clean?

Tilt and turn windows are extremely easy to clean as both sides are accessible from inside. Simply turn the window inwards fully to reach external surfaces without ladders or leaning outside. The inward-opening design makes maintenance straightforward and safe, particularly beneficial for upper-storey installations where external access can be difficult and dangerous.
