New Windows Stranraer
Quality Energy Efficient Double Glazed Windows & Doors

Noticed a temperature change in your home? Bills on the rise? Or condensation sitting on or inside your windows in the morning?
That familiar feeling? It’s your windows telling you something.
Over time, older windows start to lose their seal.
Gas escapes from between the panes. The rubber gaskets go rigid and shrink. What once did block the cold now barely makes a difference.
Stranraer has its fair share of rain and wind, sometimes more than sunshine. When your windows are tired, you spot the difference in how warm and snug your home remains.
But don’t worry, The Advanced Group is here to support you with more than 38 years of trusted experience. Whether it’s new windows for one room or a complete house of replacement windows and doors, we’ll find you the right option and get everything installed the right way.

Some issues are easy to spot, like cracked glass, rotten timber frames, and handles that won’t fasten correctly.
Other signs are trickier to spot. By the time you see them, they’ve been losing you money for months or years.

Moisture or fogging between the two sheets of glass? The sealed unit has failed.
The seal goes, and with it escapes the argon gas that delivered the insulation. The window loses a major portion of its thermal ability.
Climbing heating prices don’t have to keep eating into your pocket. Properly sealed new windows will restore your home’s thermal efficiency and start to pull those costs back down.

On a windy day, put your hand near the edges of the window. If you can feel cold air coming through, this suggests the seals have broken down.
Sure, draught proofing strips can do something for a short time, but they’re just a sticking plaster. The fault only deteriorates as the rubber keeps perishing.

Windows that jam, jam, or won’t lock correctly are a security risk as well as an insulation issue. Warped frames, worn hinges, and failed mechanisms all suggest the window has reached the end of its functional life.
Multi-point locking systems on modern windows are far more protective than the single-point catches on older models, and options like toughened glass add extra security.
A significant share of heat loss in any home comes from the windows. They represent the bridge between your indoor space and the outside elements.
Older double glazing is a thing of the past, and the energy ratings will be significantly below what’s on offer now, even if they were a good specification when they were first put in.
Guard your home from expensive energy bills. New double glazed windows and doors deliver the difference.

Stranraer properties vary across all forms, and the right window choice depends on your property, the room, and how you use it.
The Advanced Group supplies and fits a full choice of windows and doors in both double glazed and triple glazed setups, including uPVC triple and double and triple glazed casement, sash, tilt and turn, and top hung types.

Possibly the most popular window type in the UK, casement windows are side-hinged and open outwards, which makes them ideal for ventilation and easy to clean from inside.
They suit most types of property, from modern homes to traditional properties, and come in a wide range of colours and finishes. Woodgrain effects recreate the look of timber without the maintenance or risk of warping.

The sliding sash windows we install replicate the appearance of original wooden sash frames, while delivering modern thermal efficiency and protection.
The proportions, sight lines, and opening mechanism are all crafted to mirror the traditional style, which is particularly relevant if your property is in a conservation area or you wish to maintain its charm.

These windows provide two modes: tilting inward at the top for safe ventilation, and turning completely inward on a side hinge for simple cleaning.
They’re a well-liked choice for upper-floor flats where cleaning the outside of the glass from a ladder isn’t practical.
The tilt mode allows air in without the safety concerns of having the window wide open, which is especially valuable if you’ve got young children.
Hinged at the top, swinging outward from the bottom. Top hung windows offer you ventilation and help keep the rain out at the same time.
You’ll spot top hung windows in bathrooms, kitchens, stairwells, and bay window configurations, basically anywhere that privacy and airflow are both a priority.

French windows are full-length units that open outward, operating similar to French doors.
Paired together, they work beautifully and can be combined with sidelights to fill a wide opening with glass and natural light.
We focus in uPVC frame materials. And for good reason.
Scotland’s weather doesn’t go easy on your windows, and uPVC is built to withstand it. It’s hardwearing, resilient to rough, windy, wet conditions, and unlike timber, it won’t rot the same way.
And here’s one more plus: uPVC is incredibly low maintenance!
A brief wipe down with soapy water is all it takes to keep your uPVC windows appearing fresh.
But more importantly, our uPVC windows are highly energy effective. Designed with multi-chambered uPVC, some of our frames can achieve a U-value as low as 0.8 W/m2K, helping restore energy efficiency to your home.
The cherry on top? uPVC double glazing is the most cost-effective option available.
This means you can often choose higher-specification glazing without breaking the budget. We also provide glazed uPVC doors, including uPVC doors, composite doors, and patio doors to complement.
Scotland’s weather is cold, wet, and windy for a large portion of the year.
In that climate, the energy efficiency of your windows makes a genuine difference to how much you pay on heating and how warm your property feels day to day.
U-value. That’s the measurement that shows you how thermally efficient a window truly is.
A lower U-value means less heat being lost through the glass and frame. Scottish building regulations currently set a maximum U-value of 1.6 W/m2K for replacement windows.
Our standard double glazed windows come in at 1.2 W/m2K, and the premium models can achieve as low as 0.8 W/m2K. That’s double glazing and triple glazing working at twice the level of the regulatory minimum.
The proof? It appears on your energy bills.
A-rated energy-efficient windows and doors with argon gas filled sealed units and low-E glass coatings send heat back into the room while still allowing light through.
If you’re moving from old single-glazed sash windows or early double glazing from the 1990s, you could see a real drop in your heating bills within the first winter.
Stranraer has its share of double glazing businesses, and most offer entry-level products. Few, though, match the standard of the windows and doors fitted by The Advanced Group.

We get asked about triple glazing a lot.
Triple glazing adds an extra pane of glass, which delivers enhanced insulation and clearly greater noise control.
If your property is perched in an exposed location, up a hill, facing north, or near a busy road or under a flight path, get in touch! The Advanced Group would be more than pleased to guide you through the advantages of triple glazing.

We fully understand that new windows are an significant spend, and paying for everything at once isn’t always realistic.
